STPI’s Tier-III Data Centers
In line with the global trends, the Indian Data Centre market is buoyed by the positive sentiments in the economy and the strong resurgence of growth-related projects across verticals such as banking, insurance, telecom and the government.
End-user spending on global data center infrastructure is projected to reach $200 billion in 2021, an increase of 6% from 2020, according to the latest forecast from Gartner, Inc. STPI has always provided unique tailormade solutions for various problems of its customers. STPI brand name is trusted and proven, therefore, it can leverage its brand value to build and sell Data Centre space to Govt. as well as private customers.
With the increased expectations from citizens for online services and the number of automation projects being launched by the Government and private as well as corporate clients, the Data Centre requirements are growing exponentially. There is a need to set up a strategic infrastructure that facilitates high availability, quick scalability, efficient management & optimized utilization of resources.
To fulfil this requirement, STPI is setting up state-of-the-art Tier-III standard Data Centre at its various Centres across India. These Data Centre will cater to the need of Govt. / PSUs / Institutions/ Industries and other agencies alike. Presently, STPI has five Tier-III (Compliant) Data Centre.
1. Chennai Data Centre
STPI IT Services Limited (MSITSL), a 50:50 Joint Venture company of MTNL and STPI, has set up a state-of-the-art world-class Tier-III Data Centre of size 8,450 sq.ft. at Chennai with server farm area of around 3500 sq. ft. The main objective is to host the company’s own infrastructure as well as enable the company to offer hosting services.
The commercial operation of the Data Centre commenced in 2009. At present, the following customers have co-located server racks for their projects and operation in the MSITSL Data Centre.
- The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has hired 1,200 sq.ft. of server farm area for its Passport Seva Project through M/s TCS.
- The Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGE&T) in Ministry of Labour & Employment has hosted National Career Project.
- M/s Repco Bank Ltd and Repco Micro Finance Ltd have co-located server racks for banking operation.
2. Mohali Data Centre
Data Center is strategically located in the Tricity of Chandigarh, 8 Km from the International Airport of Chandigarh. STPI-Mohali Data Centre located on the first floor of the building measuring approx. 15,000 sq.ft. of area with a dedicated server form area of 6500 sq.ft. The commercial operation of the Data Centre commenced in 2017.
3. Bengaluru Data Centre
STPI Bengaluru has Tier-III Level Data Center of around 15,000 Sq. ft. at Bengaluru with server farm area of 7,000 sq. ft. The facility jointly created by STPI and ESDS Software Solution Pvt. Ltd., the PPP Partner on the revenue-sharing model, who is one of the World’s leading Data Center Services and Cloud Solution providers. The facility provides Server Co-location, Cloud Services & Managed IT Services to Government, Industry & Academia and is located in STPI premises at Electronic City, Bengaluru.
4. Vijayawada Data Centre
Data Center is located in the Capital city of Andhra Pradesh, 22Km from the International Airport. STPI-Vijayawadahas set up a state-of-the-art class Tier-III Data Centre of size around 2,500 sq.ft. with server farm area of around 700 sq. ft.
5. Bhubaneshwar Data Centre
STPI-Bhubaneswar is setting up state-of-the-art Tier-III standard Data Centre of around 7,500 Sq. ft. at Bhubaneswar with server farm area of 2,500 sq.ft. to cater the need of Industries and other agencies. Based upon the business and technical requirements, customers may select from various range of services tailor-made for the customers such as co-location services, managed services as well as cloud and DR services, which are planned to be offered, based on the requirement of the customers.
